Synopsis:
Echoing through time the words from a speech originally held in 1775 with
depth of panoptical dimensions. Barricades of artificial control mechanisms
are installed to protect us from our selves – the ever expanding distance
between us. Rancorous Call consists of imagery of surveillance cameras arranged
in a symphony to Sir Patrick Henry's words uttered at St John's Church in
Richmond, USA.
Voice over segment from Patrick Henrys speech in 1775:
“Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the
plains of Boston! The war is inevitable – and let it come! I repeat
it, sir, let it come.
It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace – but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

Björn Perborg (SE), artist/curator
With a MFA in Fine Art from Valand
School of Fine Arts, Gothenburg 1998-2003, Örebro, Moscow and Gothenburg
Schools of Music 1993-1997. Recent solo shows include Geschichten aus dem Koffer at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin and DinA4 Projekte in Munich, Germany.
Anna Viola Hallberg (SE) curator/artist
With a background as Sr Creative Producer at an independent advertising/pr
agency in New Yorks Hallberg returned to the visual arts field, as practitioner
and lecturer. Hallberg has a curatorial degree from Stockholm University as
well as a BA in cinema studies. Master of Arts in International Museum Studies, University of Gothenburg, with a thesis on contemporary art in museum exhibitions outside the paradigm of the art institution. Hallberg is frequently collaborating
with Annica Karlsson Rixon with works such as Resonance and State of Mind.
